Dr. Nick Ferdinandt is a Professor of Practice in the Department of Public and Applied Humanities at the University of Arizona (UA). He holds a Masters in Slavic Languages and Literatures from The Ohio State University. His Bachelors is in Russian and he holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, both from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. He has been teaching languages or how to teach languages since 1993. Besides his work at the Center for ESL at UA, from 2007 to 2020, Dr. Ferdinandt has worked as a Professor of Practice affiliated with the Second Language Acquisition and Teaching Doctoral program, teaching language program administration and intercultural competence courses. His research ranges from Intercultural Competence, Myths as culture for community building, and Freirean approaches to leadership.
